The source material for British television series, Hotel Babylon is a delightful work of humor and scandal, the culmination of one man's experiences working in a high end London hotel. His years of toil are crammed down into a clever literary device, a single day in a fictitious Hotel Babylon where everyone has problems: some light, some hilarious and some profoundly sad. Yes, perhaps this is a celebration of capitalistic/commercial excess; perhaps it says something about the extent to which we are all alienated from each other, but damn it, it's so much fun!
Ms. Edwards-Jones, a journalist writing on behalf of her anonymous hotel source, packages this book wonderfully. Light but thoroughly enjoyable. (4/5 Stars)
